Critical Role Kickstarter!

You know I love Critical Role, the group of nerdy ass voice actors who sit around and play D&D. It’s got great storytelling and super-fun characters, and I’ve been watching their Thursday night sessions since early 2016.

I am a ~super fan~ so when they announced they’re doing a Kickstarter campaign for The Legend of Vox Machina animated show, featuring the Campaign One characters (Vox Machina) in one action-packed all-new single-episode show, I jumped on the chance to support them, backing their campaign over my lunch at work. (OBVIOUSLY.)

Within one hour they had blew past their original goal of $750,000 to reach $1 million  and over the next four days, they’d rocket up to $6.5 million and become the most funded tv show ever. EVER. Today, as of this writing, they’ve made up $6.8 million.

FOR AN ANIMATED SHOW BASED ON A D&D GAME.

Awesome?

Hell yes.

Since they blew past their original goals and reached some impressive stretch goals, they’ve added five more episodes to their original one (making it a total of six so far), and the critters have unlocked some AMAZING things, like two original one shots!

And I am SO HERE FOR THIS KICKSTARTER! I can’t wait to see how far it’ll go.

Happy Sunday!
Warm regards,
Kellie

D&D: You’re A Bard? I Play A Cleric!

“But you do see the way people look at you, devil’s child.”

Dungeons and Dragons. D&D. That nerdy thing some people play on weekends or watch on Geek & Sundry. Yes, it’s a thing. Yes, it does have a troubled past. Yes, it is having a resurgence of sorts now.

And yes, I do play D&D. Why? It’s fun! It’s a communal storytelling experience where the players get to weave together competing goals and motivations. I get to hang out with some old and new friends, AND I get to do some badass things!

Plus, it opened up a new community for me, too. Just the other day, I struck up a conversation with a stranger because of it. The woman was talking about boardgames, and I randomly mentioned D&D. Turns out, she played a bard! Instant connection! So we chatted for a bit about our campaign and characters. It was a lovely, geeky conversation.

In my campaign, we play nearly every Sunday. I play a cleric tiefling named Nevara. Clerics are healers of the group and tieflings have an infernal heritage so they have curved horns, red/blue/purple colored skin, and devil-like tails. My girl Nevara worships an evil goddess named Auril, so she tends to use cold and necrotic magic in Auril’s honor. And, of course, she has a troubled past and is looking for revenge. It’s a fun campaign, full of danger and adventure, cheese wheels and laughter.

If you’re at all interested in theater or roll-playing games, consider giving D&D a try! Those who have played D&D, what did you play?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Warm regards,
Kellie

I Did Very Little Today

I meant to do something productive today since my finals are over for the term. I meant to do more Write to Publish 2016 stuff. I meant to do more brainstorming on marketing and cover ideas for Finding Hekate. I meant to work on my stories, my second story for FH, my fanfiction, my other original works. I meant to do things for Ooligan Press.

But did I?

I got caught in a spiral of watching Geek and Sundry‘s Critical Role series instead. (Watch it live or on YouTube.) This D&D show is AMAZING! I’ll do all that other stuff tomorrow…

Please, let me know in the comments if you’ve ever gotten sucked into something so hard that it negated your responsibilities for the day. If so, what was it? If not, how do you resist such a wonderful temptation?

Also, A HUGE THANK YOU to all my followers. I just hit 200, and that’s kind of amazing to me.

Warm regards,
Kellie
